Can I walk to the beach?

You can walk down through our fields, continue down the hill into Slapton Village, then through the village and on a footpath to the beach. It is 1-1/2miles away.

Which beaches can we walk our dog on?

Slapton Sands – our nearest beach – is dog friendly all year round. Many other local beaches are dog-friendly too.
The main exceptions are Blackpool Sands and Bantham which have a ‘no dog policy’ in the summer.

Are there good walks nearby?

Yes we are one and a half miles from the South West Coast Path and there are many lovely walks nearby.

Is it a good place for stargazing?

Sea View Campsite enjoys dark skies which are excellent for observing the stars, beautiful South Devon sunsets and catching the full moon rising up above the sea.

Is there a bus stop nearby?

The bus stop is at Slapton beach 1 1/2 miles away.

Where is the nearest train station?

The nearest station is Totnes which is 12 miles away.

Can I charge my electric vehicle on site?

Sorry, we have not got the capacity for EV charging at the moment. There are charging points in the nearby towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe including Tesla points in Salcombe.

Are children allowed to ride bikes on site?

Yes, we have a large field for children to play in, ride their bikes, fly kites, play ball games.

Can we have a fire?

We have a designated fire pit area where you are welcome to have a small log fire. We don’t allow ground fires anywhere else. You are welcome to bring your own raised barbecue or fire pit to use on your pitch subject to the camp site rules 7.3 in the terms and conditions.

Do you allow groups?

Groups must phone to check availability before booking.
If we accept a group it is on the basis that all members of the group are happy to accept the campsite rules, particularly with regard to noise. We are a family site and the quiet time is 11pm – 7am, so everyone on site must abide by that.

Do you take Duke of Edinburgh groups?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate outdoor education groups and can usually offer them field for exclusive use.

Do you take hen and stag parties?

Sorry, because we are a family site, all groups must be quiet and considerate to others on the site so we do not take groups that wish to make noise after 11pm unless they have arranged exclusive use of the site.

Are you open all year round?

No, Sea View Campsite is open between mid-May and mid-September. The exact dates are posted on our website.

Do you have any fully serviced pitches?

No, our electric hook-up pitches are all on grass. There are two taps for drinking water in the main camping field.
We also have grey water and chemical disposal points in the main camping field.

I don’t like camping. Do you have other accommodation?

Yes, we have Skylarks Chalet, a fully equipped 2 bedroom chalet available for rental for up to 4 persons.

Can I pitch next to my friend?

If you both have electric hook-ups or are both on non-electric pitches, we can usually make sure that you can pitch together.

Can I request a particular pitch?

Yes and we will do our best to accommodate your  request. We do not guarantee a particular pitch, however as sometimes weather, ground conditions, or other issues can mean that we sometimes have to rearrange to give everyone the best experience possible.

Do I need to book or can I just show up?

We do get busy in the school holidays so it is always best to book to ensure that you get a space.
If you have a caravan or motorhome, we only have a few pitches available, so these must always be booked in advance.

Do you have toilet and shower facilities?

Yes, we have:
Ladies toilet and washroom with five toilets four basins and the socket for a hair dryer.
Gents toilet and washroom with four toilets, 4 basins and three urinals.
Unisex individual large washroom and toilet.
Showers –  4 Unisex shower wet rooms.

Do you have a kitchen?

We have a washing up room with two double sinks, a fridge, a freezer and a microwave.

Do you have a laundry?

No, but service washes are available at reception 9 am to 7pm.

Is there somewhere to eat nearby?

Yes, the pubs in Slapton Village both serve food and are one mile away.
The Start Bay Inn, on the beach at Torcross, serves food all day including takeaway.
There are many other excellent pubs and cafes within a few miles.

Why doesn’t sat nav take us to the campsite?

Some SAT NAVS, based on postcodes, will take you to the centre of the postcode area. In our case this is a field half a mile away as the post code area is so large. We advise you not to rely on your SAT NAV in this area of South Devon.
